Keeping the koi alive

I’ve tried the Tetra Fungus Guard (nitrofurazone, furazolidone, potassium dichromate) and the API General Cure (250 mg Metronidazole and 75 mg Praziquantel) – both seemed to have little or possibly a stressful effect on Cha Cha. The sick koi looked pretty bad yesterday and I fully expected to see a dead koi this morning:

Well the little koi is still flapping fins so I’m returning to a regimen of time, a little salty water and maybe some Kordon Ich Attack just because.  I’ve also propped Cha Cha up because it really is sad to see a koi floating aimlessly on its side

It may seem silly to try to keep this mostly dead koi alive but I just don’t have the heart to put Cha Cha into the compost pile. Something about naming the koi and watching them swim around the pond makes them almost like the family dog. I’m still hoping that Cha Cha will return to the pond in a few weeks.
