Carpal tunnel, sore muscles, humidity, dehydration, thunderstorms and night did not deter the pond digger from completing the onerous task of lowering the rotary drum filter 8 inches. You may think “how hard could 8 inches be?” – but it took three days of 12-15 hour days to get it right. If you look in the section about tweaking the ponds, there is a little video of the equipment area.
For 31 hours, the koi had very little filtration and the ammonia levels went up slightly. We did a 10 percent water change and I was thinking that it’s a good thing we don’t live in California with drought restrictions. 1500 gallons watered our lawn and the street today.
I’m looking forward to the pond water clearing back up again!
