another autumn weekend

The weather isn’t that cold but the koi seem to be less interested in eating. The water temperature is about 55 and the koi will have only a few more weeks of outdoor living. We have been behind on some of our koi projects for a variety of reasons. The pond digger hopes to get some work done on the coverings for our equipment pits soon. We did start putting together the pool in the garage. The directions state it is a “3 man job” but we’re doing okay with just the two of us. We didn’t finish putting it together but there isn’t a rush. We have a bead filter going on the upper pond so that some bacteria might be established. The bead filter will come into the garage when the koi are moved. I’m excited to see the koi up close in our pool in a few weeks. They have been growing very well and many have made impressive gains in length and girth. Chinook was a 7″ tosai in March and is probably 13-14″ now. We’ll be doing a little measuring as we bring them in for winter.
