On the last weekend of summer, the pond digger is busy again re-doing the lower pond. This seems like the 50th time we’ve redone this pond but I think this with be the 5th true variation on this spot. The new pond is deeper, sports a larger bottom drain and will be the winter home for the koi. A hoop house will be placed over this pond and the pond digger is busy looking at external filter systems for the pond over winter. We are also changing the waterfall to resemble how the water flows above Kawishiwi Falls in Northern Minnesota. All this means moving around a lot of rocks, pebbles and mud. Good thing the pond digger has a lot of energy – I think we’ll be running water into it by the end of the weekend!
