Weekends are for Gardening and Pond Work

This weekend is going to be pretty warm in Minnesota and we are busy doing garden projects and working on the equipment pits. Our landscape designer presented us with a preliminary plan on changing the look of the backyard. We have some specific trees to purchase and I’ve sourced them at a local farm. They are scheduled to arrive in about two weeks. The new shade feature for the lower pond will be made out of aluminum and wood. Interesting idea and I think we’ll like it.

So I spent most of my day moving plants around according to the landscape designer.

First task was to move a pea shrub tree to a new spot on the hill side. I wanted to get rid of some of the creeping jenny, because it really takes over.

Creeping jenny was placed in spots behind the boulders, the hydrangea bush was moved into the lilac line and a little mulch was sprinkled everywhere to more easily see the hosta coming up. I transplanted another azalea into this area.

We moved all the plants away from the lower pond's equipment pit . We didn't want things to be trampled and the deer had damaged a few items. The arctic blue willow replaced the hydrangea bush, and the other willow type of bushes went into the lilac line towards the back of the property. Not sure if they will flourish but there are some new sprouts at the bottom of these plants.

I also had some time to bowl the six shiro utsuris and take a closer look. I’ll have to start thinking about naming these koi. The group in general are on the crazy side. The largest one is pretty active and crazier than the rest. Two dots on the head…
