Today it’s around 35 degrees and tomorrow it will be almost 60 degrees. The next two weeks will generally be around 50 degrees so perhaps spring is finally here for good. I used to live in Northern Virginia and by this time all the cherry trees are blooming, the tulips have come and gone, tree…

Water Parameters
Every koi keeper will tell you that the most important aspect of koi keeping is making sure the water they live in is right. It makes a lot of sense, when you live in your own toilet bowl, you have to hope your owner is doing their best to keep it clean. So we started…
we think we’re making progress…
This morning we sadly found Paco definitely dead in the quarantine tank. While he looked pretty good most of the time he was in quarantine, he went to the bottom early last night and never recovered. Meanwhile, Ika who has been doing the death spiral and playing mostly dead for over a week now was…

Cleaning up the ponds
Beautiful weekend outside albeit a little chilly. We spent most of it cleaning up the yard and the pond digger worked on one of the equipment pits. We never got around to covering the pits so we have all winter to decide what we’re going to do. He also has started cleaning up the ponds…
Winter pool at work
The pond digger did a lot of work at night this week and in between NFL football plays. He created a drip system for the winter pool, a giant rain bar, extra lights in the garage and some time this week a heavy plastic divider wall will go up to keep the aquarium smell contained….
