Do not text and pond build at the same time

The pond digger was ready to start arranging rocks around the upper pond. Between adding concrete, backfilling with dirt and getting everything ready to place the large riverjacks….he got a text message. Since it was quite sunny and hot this morning, he stepped away from the edge of the pond and into the shade to complete a few texts. When he returned to the edge of the pond, the liner had slipped away from the edge and the water was now pouring out of the pond and behind the liner. I was at work and could only imagine the pond digger’s stress level as he started draining the pond and moved the koi to the lower pond. Exhausting work.

A few hours later, the pond liner has been cleaned, put back in place and the filling begins.

Meanwhile, everyone is crowded into the lower pond. The lower pond has been showing some signs of turning green like the upper pond so I threw in some more bacteria. Short term, the crowded pond will be fine. The larger koi will be moved back into the upper pond tomorrow. It was nice to see my new fish up close. The hiutsuri is named Constance and the two sankes have been dubbed the Joker and the Riddler. Not very asian names…

Here’s a three minute video of the koi swimming around. Ethel and T2 thought the camera was something that they could eat.
